
John Juanda was born on the 8th July 1971 in Indonesia. He first came to the USA in 1990 when he enrolled in Oklahoma State. He also received an MBA from Seattle University before turning to poker -not before he tried his hand at door to door bible selling!. In 1996 he entered his first major poker tournament; however it was five years later before he tasted success in his first major tournament the World Poker Open Championship. Since then he has been one of the biggest online and offline winners in the game and is currently 10th in the all time money list winning nearly $9.5 million and 4 bracelets offline and countless millions online.
John Juanda had one of the best weeks of his career at the start of October 2008. He won the 2008 WSOP Europe presented by Betfair Main Event, claiming his fourth bracelet and more than $1.5 million. This included a WSOP record breaking 19 hour final table. He also became the first American to win a bracelet at the WSOP Europe event. John also topped it all off by coming 2nd for over $570,000 by coming second in the EPT London £1 Million Showdown the following week!
At the tender age of just 18, Annette Obrestad from Norway, became the youngest ever female to win a staggering £1,000,000 at the World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair.com. Since breaking various records and earning herself a staggering $2.5 Million in 2007 alone. Annette has taken the Poker World by storm and is known by many as a poker phenomenon.
Her father taught her how to play 5-card and 7-card Stud poker at a young age. Annette known as 'Annette_15' online has been playing for many years on unidentified sites having never staked a cent turning a freeroll first prize of $9 into $300k in two months. Before her break on the live tournament scene Annette was topping all of the Online Poker charts and had already been described as the most talented and successful online poker players of all time.
On September 17, 2007 Obrestad won the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe Main Event the day before her 19th birthday which edged the record for a single-event payout to a female player. Annette outlasted 361 players in the £10,000 No Limit Main Event and won £1,000,000 ($2,013,734). Shortly after this historical win Annette came close to a second major live title in November 2007, finishing in second place earning €297,800 ($431,184). Her earnings in 2007 came to a staggering $2.5 Million.
Annette is signed to Betfair Poker, official sponsors of the WSOPE, alongside fellow professional player Sorel Mizzi from Toronto and John Tabatabai who finished 2nd to Annette at the 2007 WSOPE. Annette can be found regularly playing on the Betfair tables and blogs on their site.
