Betfair Poker and the WSOPE

Betfair Poker is the proud sponsor of the World Series of Poker Europe. WSOPE is the first tournament extension of the world's richest and most prestigious gaming event and complements the WSOP held annually in Las Vegas. The WSOP has experienced groundbreaking alliances in broadcasting, digital media and corporate sponsorships and the WSOPE allows the brand to be seen by a new European audience.

The 2008 event attracted over one thousand entrants competing for four bracelets and over $2 million in prize money. The event which takes place in the heart of London is attended by the world's best tournament players including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Doyle Brunson and Vegas Main Event winner Peter Eastgate. This year's winner was John Juanda who battled through a competitive field and triumphed after a marathon 13 hour final table - the longest in WSOP history.

The first winner of the WSOPE was 18 year old internet sensation and Betfair sponsored pro Annette Obrestad from Norway who walked away with the bracelet and a million pound prize money making her a Guinness Book of Records Holder in the process.
